Report a correction

Say which page, what is wrong, and where the right answer can be checked. A link to the document beats a description of it.

What we do with a report

Every report is read. We go back to the document the page was built from, and where the document itself is what is wrong, to the body that issued it.

If the page is wrong we fix it. If the page is right we say so, and show you the record it came from.

How a fix is shown

A factual error is corrected in place, and the page carries a dated correction note saying what it said before and what it says now. The wrong version stays inside the note, so nobody has to take our word for what changed.

A clarification, meaning the facts were right and the wording misled, is handled the same way and labeled as a clarification.

A typo, a broken link or a mislabeled image is fixed without a note.

An update resting on a filing that was later withdrawn is not deleted. It gets a dated note at the top saying what has changed since, because the fact that it was filed is still true.

What we do not do

Take a page down because its subject dislikes it.

Rewrite it quietly and let the old version disappear.

Correct on this site and leave the video wrong. A fix follows the item to wherever it went.
