Trinity Green LLC and Atlanta Demolition are tearing down the former Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center campus at 315 Boulevard NE, a 2.5-million-square-foot, 11-building complex that traces back more than a century to Georgia Baptist Hospital. Wellstar shut the hospital in November 2022 after citing multimillion-dollar losses, and the 22-acre site, roughly the footprint of Centennial Olympic Park, has sat vacant since.
The Integral Group and Wellstar broke ground in June 2025 on BLVDNEXT, a mixed-use redevelopment built around housing for teachers, police, nurses and firefighters alongside market-rate units, retail, greenspace and health and wellness space. Demolition, one of the largest vertical demolition jobs ever undertaken in downtown Atlanta according to trade publication Construction Equipment Guide, is expected to wrap by the end of 2026; infrastructure work starts in mid-2027 with vertical construction following late that year.
The plan links the site to the Beltline, Freedom Park Trail and the proposed Stitch highway cap.
Why it matters
It's the biggest single land assembly left in Old Fourth Ward, and the workforce-housing framing is a deliberate answer to displacement pressure along that stretch of the Beltline.
