Selig Enterprises cleared the City of Atlanta's Zoning Review Board for a 14-story, 375-unit residential tower at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Bonaventure avenues in Virginia-Highland, across from Hotel Clermont. The project would replace a row of low-rise commercial buildings on 1.75 acres Selig has assembled, adding roughly 10,000 square feet of street-level retail.
Fifty-seven of the units would be set aside as affordable to satisfy the city's Beltline Overlay District requirements, with average market rents projected between $1,700 for one-bedrooms and $2,055 for two-bedrooms. Renderings from architecture firm RJTR show the tower stepping down toward the residential side of Maiden Lane NE, with new sidewalks and greenspace along the block.
Why it matters
It's one of the largest single towers proposed yet for the low-rise Ponce de Leon corridor through Virginia-Highland.
