Westside Future Fund broke ground August 17 at 280 James P. Brawley Drive on its first ground-up construction in Vine City. The $6.7 million building will hold 18 affordable homes reserved for neighborhood families and educators connected to Hollis Innovation Academy through the group's Home on the Westside program.
It is funded with a mix of corporate, philanthropic and public money. Construction runs through the third quarter of 2026, and residents are expected to move in by the second quarter of 2027.
Why it matters
After years of buying and fixing existing homes, the group building the Westside around the stadium is now adding brand-new affordable units, aimed squarely at keeping teachers and longtime families in the neighborhood.
