Georgia's Department of Community Health approved Grady Health System to build a freestanding 200-bed short-stay acute-care hospital in Fulton County. The August 11 certificate-of-need decision lists an estimated project cost of $924.8 million. A site address, financing plan and construction schedule are not yet public, so the location and delivery remain the next records to watch.

Why it matters

The approval would add substantial inpatient capacity to metro Atlanta's core safety-net system.
